Marian Munteanu is member of The Romanian Association of Ethnological Sciences (ASER) and Editor of CERC Ethnology Publication (Romanian Contemporary Ethnological Researches).
His main scientific contribution, so far, is related to introducing the freedom and the freedom obstruction themes in the ethnological sciences topics range. This contribution is mainly represented by his monumental work THE FOLKLORE OF DETENTION, The Forms of Freedom Deprivation in Folklore, Study, Typology, Anthology and Glossary, Valahia Publishing House, 2007. This ample work identifies and describes, for the first time in the Romanian Ethnology, (very likely for the first time in the international Ethnology) the ways the freedom deprivation is perceived and assessed by a traditional community.
The anthropology and social sciences researches allowed him to develop practical applications in the administrative and economic areas. Thus, Marian Munteanu creates new evaluation and intervention methods, in the human resources management, as well as in the organizational management processes. These accomplishments are reflected in his economic activities, as Senior Adviser and Manager (1995-1999) of a major Human Resources Agency (Professional) and, from 2004, as Senior Adviser for Employer Consult, Consultancy company. He also actively participated at the legislative debates, in areas such as Education, Culture and Labor. These debates were institutionally organized by the tripartite social dialogue bodies (Government, Employers' Organizations, Trade Unions). In this capacity, he represented, as delegate, several Employers' Organizations Confederations, representative at the national level (1999-2006).
